Green Depot Update from MMSB

Starting this week, Green Depots across the province will begin to resume operations. Dates for reopening and hours of operation may vary between Green Depots.

View Operational Hours for Green Depots During COVID-19 Alert Level 4

Upon reopening, Green Depot locations will move to an Xpress only model of service and implement several precautions to ensure physical distancing and safety of customers and staff. Traditional counter service, where a customer waits for their order to be counted followed by their cash payment, is suspended until Newfoundland and Labrador enters COVID-19 Alert Level 3.

Please do not visit your Green Depot if you are sick or have travelled outside of the province within the last 14-day.

Dropping Off your Bags

As an Xpress customer, you are already set-up to drop off your used beverage containers!

If your Green Depot has a self-serve kiosk, just enter your phone number, print labels and attach to each bag.

If no self-service kiosk is available at your Green Depot, a staff member will request your phone number and print and attach your labels for you.

While we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, customers can also make their own labels at home using masking tape or other adhesive materials. You must include your phone number, name and date of drop off. Labeling the bags before drop-off will also help speed up services in some depots. Please ensure all details are easy to read.

You can then leave the bags in the designated bag drop area and go!

If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the MMSB at 1.800.901.mmsb or inquiries@mmsb.nl.ca.

Provincial Solid Waste Management Review Report

The provincial government released the Solid Waste Management Review Report on January 29, 2020. The report makes several recommendations relating to waste management in our province. One recommendation from the report is to consolidate the current eight (8) regional service board areas on the island into two (2) - namely, a Western/Central board and an Eastern board. This recommendation would involve shipping all waste from the Northern Peninsula to Norris Arm in Central Newfoundland.  You can view the full report by clicking here.
